The peonies are waking up, variety by variety- tiny red stems are pushing through the soil like little promises of the beauty to come 🌸

We’ve been busy weeding and spring cleaning in the field, and it’s starting to feel real…peony season is so close!

We can’t wait to share these blooms with our local community and fellow flower lovers—especially our floral professionals who turn them into absolute magic ✨

🌸Peony Variety Spotlight: Monsieur Jules Elie

🌸A classic heirloom peony known for its huge, fragrant, blush-pink blooms with soft, silvery highlights. Introduced in 1888, this beloved variety brings timeless romance to the garden with its lush, double petals and early blooming season. A true showstopper and a must-grow for lovers of old-fashioned charm and sweet peony fragrance ✨
🌸I find the stems nice and sturdy for cut flower use, but as a garden display some have reported the stems aren’t strong enough to hold up these absolutely MASSIVE blooms. May be better suited for a cut flower garden.

Peony Variety Spotlight: Paula Fay

🌸She is one of our earliest varieties signaling the arrival of peony season for us every year
🌸Vibrant, hot pink frilly blooms on thick, sturdy stems make her a stunning choice for landscaping
🌸Sadly, we do not offer her as one of our cut flower varieties because the petals seem to get slightly deformed (we think due to frost damage since it is such an early variety)
🌸And most unfortunate of all…she smells BAD 😭 (our theory again is frost damage?? We can’t be sure 🤷🏻‍♀️)
🌸I’ve just never felt good about offering this variety due to the minor deformities and bad smell, so we enjoy her beauty out in the field! She is stunning kept on the plant and droop resistant too in our experience 👌🏻

We still love her though, despite her flaws 🥰
